The Boxcopter is made out of affordable materials and, therefore, easy and cheap to maintain. With its eight large propellers, the disk loading is rather low, yielding a highly efficient vehicle that is suitable for long missions and/or high payloads.
One such example of a long mission with a small payload is a survey of aerial LTE-coverage, where the Boxcopter was used successfully. Due to its potential for a high payload, the multicopter can also be controlled via a high definition FPV system or transport other heavy payloads such as Laser, Radar, imaging, or a modern data downlink. Therefore, it could also be converted to a BVLOS aircraft in the future.
