Since 2022, the Maja V3 has supplemented the group of versatile, unpiloted „workhorses“ within the iFR research fleet. Unlike its predecessors, the aircraft is a complete in-house design and was built by research assistants, funded by study commission grants. With the installed 4S, 20 Ah battery, a flight time of more than one hour is achieved at a takeoff mass of 5.9 kg. The Maja V3 is primarily used in teaching as an experimental vehicle for flight control algorithms developed by students as part of their theses or seminars. Due to its large payload capacity, the efficient aircraft is also particularly well-suited as an airborne platform for remote sensing applications.
