In a project led by Airbus, and in collaboration with the Institute of Aircraft Systems (ILS), iFR has demonstrated the safe operations of a full fly-by-wire system and used it for both piloted and automated operations, concluding the project with a fully automated flight, including take-off and landing operations. To achieve that, the aircraft was retrofitted with a fully functional Fly-By-Wire system in parallel to its traditional mechanical controls.
